This weekend there were two types of Irish people, those who were at Electric Picnic & those who weren’t. Thanks to the sun, moon, stars & Otterbox gods, I was one of the former!

To describe “The Picnic” or choose a favourite part is next to impossible. Along with St Patrick’s day it is, for sure one of Ireland’s most iconic spectacles.

Some of the best fun with festivals can be choosing what to wear & which phone case goes best with your ultimate festival look (& then obviously taking heaps of flatlay snaps to document the process). It’s a chance for most to cover themselves in glitter, feathers & gemstones & run around Stradbally  like excitable puppies! All rules go out the window & the more ludicrous the rig outs the better they are received by passers by!

There is so much to do, eat, see, listen to & eat again (if you are like me)! Even if you had a week to explore you would still be stumbling across new & wonderful delights on day 7. From babies in buggies to Grannies in onesies the crowds were diverse to say the least!

Between Instagram, snapchat, Twitter, Facebook and the new (& highly addictive) insta stories I had my phone in my hand at all times! As a serial “dropaholic” I am never without an Otterbox of some colour, style or finish. Thankfully the aforementioned Otterbox Gods have been super sound & provided a phone obsessed klutz like myself with LOADS of variety!

Unfortunately the rain fell & fell. Hard. Not ideal at all for the fab makeup, facepaint & huge effort so many had gone to but like the little troopers we ‘picnickers’ are we doubled down & danced, sang & partied through the showers!

From The RTE Concert Orchestra playing chart hits & Hozier surprising thousands by showing up & singing Davis Bowies “Heros” the Irish talent blew everyone away!

Electric Picnic is a jewel of a festival & it was such a privilege to be there. It’s the festival that just keeps on giving, I’ve been 11 out of the 13 years & am already excited for next year!!

My fundamental picnic tips are: there is no such thing as too much glitter & always, ALWAYS wrap your phone in an Otterbox, and perhaps try find sensible footwear for those moments when the heavens open up and converse can become fairly wet and full of puddles 🙂
