With the ‘discovery’ of the Côte d’Azur in the 1920s, the South’s mighty tourist industry was set in motion – and the south of France become the destination of choice ever since. There is no shortage of beautiful spots through out the Riviera, such as the eternally chic Saint Tropez, made famous by blonde bombshell Brigitte Bardot, coastal city Nice with it’s beautiful old town, seaside town Antibes, home to world renowned hotel Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, as well as the crown jewel that is…. Cannes.
Perhaps you could blame the artists and writers whose work made the Riviera a byword for bohemian sophistication and belle-époque elegance. Cannes certainly is at the epicenter of this, bolstered as a result of hosting the infamous Cannes Film Festival every year. The Festival de Cannes is without a doubt the most glamorous film festival held in Europe, just ahead of the Venice Film Festival, La Biennale di Venezia, where films for the coming year each are shown in what is in fact a world premiere frequented by the starring actors and actresses themselves, as well as producers and directors and other notables in the film industry.
The atmosphere throughout the south of France is magnetic during the month of May, as a result of the Film Festival in Cannes and tourists flocking to this special haven to be a part of the action.
This weekend, we are super pleased to be collaborating with one of our favorite Parisian Instagrammers Léa platz, who is the name behind the instagram parisianlifebylea. Based in Paris, Léa will be making the trip to the South this weekend to visit those special places that are brimming with ambiance and excitement – from Antibes and Juan Les Pins to Cannes itself. Lea will be snapping away to her hearts content during this trip on her iPhone, so make sure to follow her instagram (here) to see her capture this special part of the world. Of course, it wouldn’t be right if her iPhone wasn’t protected by an OtterBox case during her trip so stay tuned to see what her choice of OtterBox is 🙂
