Every January, we all have high aspirations about beginning a new year fresh, organised with so many hopes and goals they seem almost endless.

One goal that is achievable with minimal effort is dressing up your desk space to make it as beautiful and elegant as possible.

Why sit in a space that doesn’t stimulate, inspire and motivate you?

We have been admiring our friend Sebastian (of for his divine office space and we feel inspired to share our six quick wins to ensure your desk space is always picture perfect.

  1. Keep it Clean

As we all know, sitting in a clean, organised space increases your level of productivity. In 2016, declutter and throw away all of those papers, plastic folders and sticky notes that were needed in 2015.

There is no time like the present!

  1. Invest in a neutral palette

This one may not be possible for some of you but for those who are able to choose your own colour scheme in your office space, a neutral set of tones can be beneficial for your mind and productively.

Not only does it create a warm and welcoming feeling, nothing will ever feel too dark, dull or overwhelming.

On top of this, usually office spaces are of smaller sizes, which means lighter colours like beige, ivory can make the room look a little larger and even more spacious.

  1. Personalise

It is always nice to be able to look at a familiar face and smile. J

While it may be a little cheesy to keep a loved one’s photo in the middle of your desk space in an open office, it can help to discreetly place a photo within eye view to help you maintain a positive attitude during those dull winter working hours, remembering those great times spent with loved ones while gearing up to the ones that lie ahead.

  1. Stationary Crazy

Taking pride and enjoying stationary is something we love at OtterBox. Having a nice new leather-bound year planner or calendar placed on your wall to write down appointments and jot down notes not only ensures you are more organised but also accessorizes your own desk space.

Why not invest in some new post-its and highlighters to start the New Year as you mean to go on?

  1. Nature knows Best

Living plants, a fresh orchid or even a beautiful bunch of flowers if you are feeling flush, will bring a feeling of the outdoors into your office space.

On top of this psychologists in the UK have also proven that introducing greenery to workplaces led to a 15 per cent rise in output… Now if that isn’t an incentive, we don’t know what is!

  1. Motivate

We all need a little pep talk every now and again to keep the energy levels high! Why not add your favourite aspirational quote or poster within your view to keep those happy vibes alive!?
