Check out the hottest apps that caught our in-house tech spotter’s eye this past month!
Google Keep (iOS/Android – Free)
Keep is much more than a notepad – the app can grab text from your photos or transcribe your voice memos. This is nifty if you’re on the go and don’t have time to type. You can also set reminders for certain times or locations, to ‘keep’ your day on track. Have a busy day ahead but it’s your night to cook?! …the app can bring up your shopping list when you’re finished work or in the vicinity of your local shop.
MSTY – The Music Messenger (iOS/Android – Free)
MSTY (My Song To You) is a great way of sharing music with your friends, but with an added twist. This app lets you pick a song that you want your friends to hear, customise the background and add in your own personalised message!
WifiMapper – Free WiFi Map (iOS/Android – Free)
WifiMapper helps you cut down on data roaming costs when you’re travelling by displaying nearby WiFi spots. Integrated FourSquare and WiFiMapper reviews help you decide which spots have good signal strength. You can even filter the types of venues and hotspots you want (eg. café/bar/hostel/hotel).
Memrise – Learn Languages Free (iOS/Android – Free)
Memrise is a language-learning app which claims it can help you learn up to 44 words per hour in your chosen language. Memrise’s main strength over other popular language-learning apps is its wide range of choice: the app offers 1000’s of courses across 100’s of languages.
VHS Camcorder (iOS €3.99/Android £2.99)
Give your videos a retro feel with VHS Camcorder, a big hit on Instagram of late. The app has a trendy filter, making any recording look like an aged video cassette. There’s even some subtle “white noise” to give it real authenticity.
