If you haven’t yet heard about Periscope we have all you need to know right here.

What is Periscope?

Periscope is the latest social networking app from the guys over at Twitter. It lets you broadcast live video to the world directly from your little old smartphone! The idea for the app originated from a fascination with the prospect of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. In their own words they wanted to build and develop the closest thing to teleportation.

Where can you download Periscope?

The app has been available in iTunes since March and has become available for Android devices in recent weeks! Unlike when it first launched you don’t need a Twitter account to set up a Periscope account, you can now sign up with your telephone number.

What makes Periscope different to other social networking apps?

Although apps like Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram give you access to your favourite celebrities and brands, Periscope goes that little bit further, allowing you to interact with them LIVE. Share your thoughts with them by commenting live during their broadcasts and share your love by tapping the screen to send pretty colourful hearts, which are colour coded to you (cute!)

Getting Started on Periscope

Set up is pretty easy, on downloading and opening the app it simply asks you to enable your phone’s camera, microphone and location.

From here the app will take you on a quick tour of its various features and then proceeds to take you through a list of recommended people to follow – if you have signed up via Twitter the app will show you the Periscope users who you already follow on Twitter.

Periscope Who to Follow

The watch screen shows you at a glance broadcasts that you might be interested in viewing and refreshes on pulling down the screen.
