1. How did you get into design?
Ever since I can remember my Grandmother was showing me how to sew, I think this was where my interest in fashion design began. I decided to do fashion design at college and then at Uni, Winchester School of art, specialising in womenswear design.
2.What inspires you?
Gender inspires me lots. I hate how female and male are so split, I like to try and cross the stereotypical boundaries. I recently went to the Guy Bourdin: Image Maker exhibition at Somerset House, he’s my favourite fashion photographer. I love the juxtaposition in a lot of his images. Guy Bourdin is my main inspiration for my next collection.
3.What tips would you give to somebody starting out in design?
Be brave and risky, you need to stand out and not be like everybody else. The fashion industry is very competitive, I haven’t got my dream job yet but I’m not going to stop trying.
4.Who’s you’re favourite designer?
Walter Van Beirendonck. I love how his designs are conceptual and sometimes controversial, using contemporary issues, he isn’t afraid to cross boundaries. His collections are almost animated with the use of shape, vibrant colour and fabric, this inspires me a lot.
5.What’s your favourite fashion/style app?
Probably ‘Lookbook’, if I’m going out or can’t think of anything to wear, I go onto my app and get style inspiration from there. I’m also always Instagramming, usually either OOTD posts, inspiration posts or the classic selfie, who doesn’t love a selfie after all?!
