We caught up with #SymmetryStreet Designer Egle Vaituleviciute this week to see what it’s really like being a designer on the London fashion scene!
Hi Egle! We’re so excited to have you taking part in #SymmetryStreet and can’t wait to see your collection!
1. How did you get into design?
As I was growing up my Grandmother was a menswear tailor, my Mum and my Aunties where tailors and they liked to knit in the house so I have always been interested in any kind of design, It’s been a part of me ever since I was little.
2. What inspires you?
I am inspired mostly by traditional fabrics, heritage looking garments and interiors, tweed and tartan weaves. Architecture in London is also very inspiring, sculpture, building finishes, ornaments and decorations as well as nature, shadow and reflections.
3. What tips would you give to somebody starting out in design?
Find the unique quality that defines you… there are so many designers so you have to be prepared to find a way to show something different.
4. Who’s you’re favorite designer?
Chanel and Stella McCartney.
5. What’s your favorite fashion/style app?
I mostly use my phone to browse the web and get inspiration from images, from websites such as Style.com.
